Dear St. Joseph Parishioners,
Greetings from a rainy Dunedin. Being so far south in the Pacific Ocean and on the coast the weather changes constantly. My time here at home has been very rich. Grieving for all of us is hard stuff, yet in the same way Our Blessed Lord uses this for renewal in the essential. He too grieved, He grieved the departure of St. Joseph, many family members, his dear friend Lazarus, etc. I am experiencing that too and grateful for it. Here is a part of a poem I found in a book on grieving:
“But grief laughs. Humbles me. I lose keys, break cups, get lost...Enter into embarrassment of tears. A friend says, One doesn’t have grief, Grief has you."
You all know this well. Thanks for your prayers!
The prayer for this week, ‘May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.’
